  • Banksy's Tech-Inspired Graffiti Evokes Stock Photos, 'X-Files' Fan Art

    NBC News

It look less than 24 hours for the scavenger hunters of street art to track down the latest work by the infamous graffiti artist known as "Banksy" ... lovers embracing in a doorway, their faces illuminated by the smartphones which capture their loving gaze. It took less than five minutes via Google Image Search to find the dozens of identical stock photos depicting the postmodern isolation of digital intimacy ... or whatever.

Nor was a less playful protest the following day, when one anti-gentrifier reportedly vomited on the windshield of Yahoo’s employee bus.

  • 21st century TV: If you stream it, we will binge

    NBC News

"Breaking Bad" didn't turn us into binge-watching TV addicts, and neither did mobile devices, or even the Internet. Just ask anyone who bought the Special Edition "Twin Peaks" Box Set on VHS in 1993. Many a lost weekend were spent in the Dark Lodge, absorbing all 29 episodes, when David Lynch's six-tape set of noir surrealism hit the Blockbuster shelves.

    NBC News

Everywhere on the Internet, we're trailed by bots that inspect our searches and social chatter, attempting to predict what we're going to buy, watch or who we might date next. But in the middle of all that commerce-friendly jibber jabber, some people are saying, in not so many words, "I am going to kill myself." What if a computer program could spot those cries for help as well?

Having a friend behind bars is never easy. Being a self-appointed literary agent is always a challenge. But it's even tougher when your penitentiary-bound writer is a notorious domestic terrorist and enemy of the state who calls for the destruction of civilization.
