Routing numbers, or transit numbers, are 9-digit codes that uniquely identify your financial institution. You can find your routing number without a check through online banking, in the mobile app, our quick reference chart, or on your personal checks.
If you have online access to your Citizens checking or savings account, follow the steps below.
Once you are in the mobile app, from the accounts menu, select the account for which you need the routing number. At the top of the screen, under the available balance, click on the “Show Account Information” and your account number and routing number will be displayed. For more information, refer to the image below or use this interactive demo.
Your bank routing number is the first nine-digit number on the bottom left corner of each check. It’s enclosed between the |: and |: symbols.
Note: Your checking account number appears to the right of the routing number.
There are a variety of reasons you may need your routing number, but common scenarios may include when you are setting up direct deposit for your paycheck, setting up automatic online bill payments, and sending and receiving wire transfers.
The routing number and account number work together and are both required for certain transactions. The routing number identifies the financial institution while the account number identifies a specific bank account. While routing numbers are publicly available information, account numbers are unique, so make sure to take steps to protect the privacy of it.
This reference chart shows all the Citizens routing numbers. Your routing number is based on the state where you opened the bank account.
