No matter what happens ahead... I'm going to draw White Knight to the end!

Teppei Sasaki, Chapter 6

Teppei Sasaki ( () () () (てっ) (ぺい) Sasaki Teppei?) is the main protaganist of Time Paradox Ghostwriter.

He is a mangaka living in Tokyo, where he moved upon graduating from an unnamed manga art-focused school. After his original works were continuously rejected, Teppei makes his serialization debut with the manga White Knight, which was copied from its actual author Itsuki Aino after it appeared from the future in his Microwave time machine.

Appearance[]

Teppei is a young man of average height and build with spiked, bluish-black hair of varying lengths with two long strands sticking up. He wears his hair tied back into a low ponytail at the base of his neck with bangs split between his eyes and left to fall unevenly down his forehead. His eyes are a blue-gray color and oval-shaped with dark eyelashes, framed by bushy black eyebrows. After overworking himself when he received news of Itsuki's future death, Teppei appears to have gained permanent black rings around the bottom of his eyes, giving his face a sharper-looking appearance.[3]

Teppei wears a plain white shirt and jeans with rips at the knees, as well as sandals and a dark-colored messenger bag over his shoulder. He keeps his right hand consistently bandaged due to his job as a mangaka.

Personality[]

Teppei is kind, but clumsy by nature, and his greatest dream is to become a successful mangaka whose work is loved by all audiences. He holds a lot of determination, always completing his job once he sets his mind to it even if finishing his job means plagiarizing a manga (White Knight) from the future. However, he does appear to feel a great deal of guilt for claiming Itsuki's work when he first discovers that its appearance in his microwave wasn't a hallucination.

Trivia[]

  • Teppei's surname contains the kanji for "help, assistance" ( sa?), a kanji repetition mark ( sa?) and "tree, wood" ( ki?), and his first name contains "wisdom, a wise man" ( tep?) and "ordinary" ( pei?).

Quotes[]

  • (Inner monologue) "At one point in their life, everyone dreams of reaching for the sky and actually seizing the star they've had their eye on. But, the number of people who actually stretch that far are very few in number. Out of those, the ones who can reach it are even fewer. And only the smallest handful can actually catch it!"[4]
  • (To Itsuki Aino) "Nothing! What can only I draw?! What can only I say?! Nothing!! There's nothing at all!!! But... I believe that even an empty person... has the capability to create a good manga! I just want... a lot of people to enjoy what I draw!"[5]
  • (After receiving news of the anime adaption) "No matter what happens ahead... I'm going to draw White Knight to the end!"[6]
