The Editor in Chief ( (へん) (しゅう) (ちょう) Henshū-chō?) is the head of Weekly Shonen Jump's Editorial Department at Shueisha.

Appearance[]

The Editor in Chief has neatly combed dark hair parted down the middle and narrow eyes. He wears a dark vest over a white dress shirt and a dark colored tie, dark colored pants, and shoes.

Personality[]

Although the Editor in Chief presents himself as a calm and mild mannered person, he takes his job as an editor very seriously and is known to reprove or even reprimand his workers or potential mangaka. Other than that, he's shown to have a astute sense of quality manga as after he read Teppei's White Knight storyboard, he immediately wanted to publish it.

Synopsis[]

Immediately after Kikuse's tirade on being a mangaka to Teppei while in the process scattering his storyboard submission to the floor, the Editor in Chief appears and picks up the scattered papers. He comments that he's surprised that Kikuse has the talent to discern people who has and who hasn't have any talent, noting he's been in the industry for 20 years and has yet to cultivate such an amazing talent. A sullen Kikuse apologizes for his behavior and the EiD then reproves Teppei for his actions by barging into the office without permission. An emotional Teppei sincerely apologizes for his actions and elucidates that he's waited long enough to fulfill his dream to become a mangaka. Stating that a crime is still a crime, the EiD still decides to read the storyboard that Teppei tried to submit, noting that he was impressed by his one-shot Robo-Nishi in the past. After reading the EiD notes that they can't run it in a special issue, but that it should be run directly into Shonen Jump, claiming it's not only good, but it's astounding. He then orders a man named Arisawa to make a copy of it and he does so.[1] Right after all of the other editors in the office read the storyboard to White Knight, the EiD claims they'll run it in the next one-shot slot. Furthermore, ge assigns Muneoka as Teppei's editor, much to Kikuse's dismay who earlier announced that he never wants to work as Teppei's editor ever again.[2]
