My oldest friend, who I have now known for 25 years, first attracted my attention because he was reading the "Star Trek Trivia Quiz Book" in an eighth grade class. The two of us lived, eat and breathed Star Trek TOS throughout middle schoole and high school. At the time we lucked out, because in the pre-VCR stone age of media, our local TV stations ran three consecutive episodes of TOS per weekday and we watched all of them.
With another friend, I wrote a very bad piece of Fan fiction, and then gave that whole thing up as a bad idea. What I am good at is nitpicking. I actually still have notes describing the planets, minor characters, and props in TOS, and having discovered Memory Alpha, will now go back and blow the dust off of those.
I'm glad to be in a community of like-minded Trekkers.
