Service history[]
The USS Archimedes was launched prior to Stardate 58130.6. Eventually, the ship came under the command of Captain Sonya Gomez. One of the missions which the Archimedes was assigned was to make first contact with the Lapeerians, with the assistance of the USS Cerritos. During this mission, the ship was caught in the destruction of an unstable planetoid and disabled by a wave of magnetized ionic plasma, but was saved by the Cerritos before it could crash into Lapeeria. Tendi later used Ensign Sam Rutherford's work on removing the Cerritos hull to save the Archimedes as the reason to get Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups to promote him. (LD: "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee")
