Sorry if I missed something, but where does the name "Solum" come from? As far as I recall, the character was only referred to as "the Diviner" or "our Diviner" in the episode, and I don't recall seeing "Solum" in any of the publicity I've read... —Josiah Rowe (talk) 04:04, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

The Diviner calls Gwyn "Progeny of Solum". Granted it doesn't have to be his name, it could be her mother's name, or even euphemistically her home planet's name. I imagine later episodes will clarify this. -- UncertainError (talk) 05:50, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
Which, when coupled with the fact that Gollum Solum also refers to her directly as "My Progeny", in addition to the above, plus the part right before that when Zurg Drednok refers to her in the same context while speaking of her and her father's positions there, so it doesn't so much imply a third party as much as it does the relationship between the two. –Gvsualan (talk) 06:09, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

OK, then. I guess I did miss that. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 02:03, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

I don't think it is The Diviner's name. No character ever refers to him directly as Solum, so I suggest we keep this as just a"The Diviner," as most will be searching for that given name that the character is credited as in the show. - The preceding unsigned comment was added by Purgatoryman (talkcontribs).
Yep. Show producer Aaron Waltke says it's not his name. [1]DigiFluid(Talk to me) 00:38, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
That's a pretty clear statement. Is there a reason why Purgatoryman's edits got reverted? I understand that creator's comments are not canon, but they can be useful for correctly interpreting what we see and hear on screen. Also, I think Purgatoryman's autoblock should be removed. Maybe he didn't go about removing the redirect in the correct way, but he shouldn't be treated like a vandal. --NetSpiker (talk) 12:36, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
According to startrek.com, Solum is the name of their homeworld and language [2] [3] [4] [5] Talombo (talk) 03:59, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

I agree with NetSpiker that this tweet should be sufficient to move the article to "The Diviner," and that Purgatoryman should be unblocked. I don't think that those edits were in bad faith. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 20:36, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

Based on Tweet and StarTrek.com, I support move back to The Diviner. - AJHalliwell (talk) 20:56, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

It's been several days since the tweet, and I haven't seen an argument for keeping this page at "Solum." Anyone object to moving it back to "The Diviner" soon? —Josiah Rowe (talk) 16:54, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Thank you. I didn't mean to be pushy, but it was bugging me. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 17:17, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

I suppose we can't create Solum as an article until we have more on-screen evidence, right? Until then, I guess it makes more sense to have it redirect to Vau N'Akat than to the Diviner. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 17:33, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Quite frankly, I was hoping to give this more time to see if the writers let the series fix itself and save a step with figuring out what to do with "Solum", but I guess the Internet and impatience wins again. I say this mostly because I have a huge problem with our content being solely dictated by twitter, et al, as that is quite literally the opposite of canon. It's already bad enough that Startrek.com is introducing show concepts like neuroflux as if that's already been discussed on screen too, which it hasn't, either.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure our first two responses were in line with the "wait and see" approach MA generally takes with resolving such things, and let the various plots and elements naturally twist and resolve themselves, and follow the dialogue to where ever it leads us-- because again, thus far all we have is a man who specifically called his daughter "Progeny of Solum" in one episode and "my progeny" again in the next. If this is supposed to be a show written for kids, and if they wanted to be clear enough for a kid to understand, then maybe they shouldn't use the term "progeny" to define the relationship between two people and expect us to simply "know" that a "third" entity-- or in this case a somewhat left field reference to a planet and language-- is supposed to be involved as well. –Gvsualan (talk) 18:46, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

That’s reasonable, but in this case it seems we took one and one and got three. If our approach is supposed to be “wait and see,” we shouldn’t have jumped the gun and concluded that that was the Diviner’s name. —Josiah Rowe (talk) 18:57, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

What we did here is like a kid reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and concluding that the parents of Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter Pevensie must be Adam and Eve Pevensie, because everyone in Narnia calls them "Sons of Adam" and "Daughters of Eve." —Josiah Rowe (talk) 03:48, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
