Supervisor was a title for agents working on behalf of the Travelers to ensure the integrity of the timeline.

Origins[]

These field agents came from many different races and cultures before being brought to the Travelers' planet; most were assigned to deal with their own people, but similar-looking species could hide their features to blend in as needed. However, the masking technology required eight hours to recharge before it could be reactivated. (PIC: "Monsters", "Farewell")

Duties and Responsibilities[]

A class 1 supervisor could order a Beta 5 computer to override previous instructions and answer the supervisor's questions. The computer would authenticate the supervisor's credentials by asking for nature of agents and details of their mission.

Supervisors could be tasked with broad responsiblity, working to influence and guide events at a societal scale, while others might only be responsible for the wellbeing of a single individual.

History[]

Two supervisors were known to have operated on Earth. Supervisor 194, code name Gary Seven, was a Human class 1 supervisor operating in 1968, tasked with ensuring humanity's technological advancements did not wipe them out before culture and society also advanced to catch up. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth") In the early 21st century, Tallinn was a Romulan supervisor whose duties were more limited in scope but equally important: she was tasked with looking over the safety of astronaut Renée Picard, whose actions laid the foundation for the cultural maturation of humanity, and, by proxy, the founding of the Federation. (PIC: "Watcher", "Monsters").

After leaving Starfleet in 2370, Wesley Crusher eventually became a supervisor. Traveling across space and time, he came to 21st century Earth, where he recruited Kore Soong as a supervisor. Even though he could not guarantee she would be safe, Soong accepted his offer. (PIC: "Farewell")

In 2385, Dal R'El asked Wesley, dubious of his mental state, if there was a supervisor that they could talk to, meaning Wesley's boss. Wesley asked how Dal knew about the supervisors before realizing that they weren't talking about the same thing, and they didn't have time for that anyways. After escaping from the Loom, Wesley explained that the supervisors were the Travelers' field agents who worked in other time periods.
