The Starfleet Medal of Valor is an award given to officers for the display of devotion to their duty and the show of valor.
Jonathan Archer was a recipient of this medal, with clusters, prior to his retirement from Starfleet. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II")
This information appeared on the personnel file for Archer, discovered aboard the USS Defiant by his counterpart in 2155.
Sometime during his service in Starfleet, Christopher Pike was awarded this medal. This medal, along with other awards, was listed in the commendations section of Pike's personnel file. (DIS: "Brother")
