The manual aboard the SS Eleos XII
The Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual was a 24th/25th century medical reference work issued by Starfleet Medical for use by its personnel. In 2401, former Starfleet doctor Beverly Crusher kept a copy of the manual aboard her civilian vessel SS Eleos XII. (PIC: "Disengage")
The prop was an actual real world reference book, created by Eileen Palestine and future Star Trek production staff Geoffrey Mandel, Doug Drexler, and Anthony Fredrickson. Originally published in 1977 as a work of fan fiction, the work was in the same year picked up by Ballantine Books for an official publication, and it was the second printing of this edition that became featured in the Star Trek: Picard episode. Both Mandel and Drexler incidentally, by then veteran Star Trek production staff, served as art department production staff on the Picard series as well.
