Sir-Neighs-a-Lot was the first pony owned by Christopher Pike. He broke his leg during a rainstorm and Pike's parents were forced to euthanize the horse, after which Pike cried for a week. Pike never told anyone else about the incident, because "It's hard when your tragic backstory starts with a silly name."
In 2259, an older version of Pike from an alternate timeline told his younger self about Sir-Neighs-a-Lot in order to prove his identity. (SNW: "A Quality of Mercy")
