Referenced in a deleted scene from Star Trek Beyond, Lieutenant Romaine was a Starfleet officer in the alternate reality. After the USS Enterprise docked at Starbase Yorktown, Montgomery Scott was going to join Romaine for a meal. Due to the meal, Scotty declined James T. Kirk inviting him for a drink but, as a consolation, Scott invited Kirk to join him and Romaine, suggesting that Romaine would not mind Kirk's company. Kirk declined, however.
On 21 September 2016, Pegg News, a Twitter account moderated on behalf of Star Trek Beyond actor and co-writer Simon Pegg, provided a link to the deleted scene where Romaine's name was mentioned. [1]
This Romaine might be a homage to Lieutenant Mira Romaine, a character with whom Scott was romantically involved in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Lights of Zetar".
