Rigel III was the inhabited third planet of the Rigel system. (TNG: "All Good Things...")

In an alternate future, Geordi La Forge had retired from Starfleet to become a novelist and was married to Leah Brahms. They had three children, Alandra, Bret, and Sidney. The family lived on Rigel III. (TNG: "All Good Things...")

Appendices[]

Background[]

This planet's quadrant of origin is inferred based on the position of its star system as seen in the star chart appearing in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

According to the pronunciation guide for TNG: "All Good Things...", Rigel was pronounced as "RYE-jell". [1]

It was stated in "All Good Things..." that in the alternate future Leah was the director of the Daystrom Institute, suggesting that an annex of the institute was located on Rigel III.

A bit of background chatter included in the script of Star Trek, to potentially be used at the discretion of the director, mentioned setting a course to Rigel III. [2]

Assuming it was in the same system as Rigel X, it was presumably located less then ninety light years from Earth. This is because Enterprise visited Rigel X before it visited Risa, which in "Two Days and Two Nights" was said to be ninety light years away and the furthest Humans had ever traveled from their home.

Apocrypha[]

The novel Tower of Babel depicted Rigel III as the home of the reptilian Rigellians, also known as Chelons, who were introduced to spaceflight technology by the Jelna Rigelians of Rigel V.
