A reset, also known as a factory reset, a hard reset, or master reset, was a software restoration of an electronic device or computer system to its original system state by erasing all data, settings, and applications that were previously stored on the device.
In 2385, Hologram Janeway ordered the USS Protostar computer to reset her program in order to erase her memories. This was done because when the Protostar was found by Dal R'El and his crew, Hologram Janeway had no memories, thus meaning that she had to lose her memories to ensure the restoration of the timeline.
