The Protostar type escape pod was a type of emergency escape vehicle used on Federation Protostar-class starships to evacuate a ship during an emergency.
Following its discovery in 2383, the USS Protostar had a minimum of three escape pods on board until they were all jettisoned when the ship was threatened by a binary star. (PRO: "Starstruck")
