Patingi was a male Tellarite who lived during the late 24th century. He was present on Frylon IV in 2381 when he saved Brad Boimler and Sam Rutherford from a wild mugato that was chasing them when he pulled them under some exposed roots of a tree.
Patingi initially claimed to be a renowned biologist who had (implied: written) five books on mugatos, however, as he led them out of the area. It was later clarified that he had read five books on "moo-goes", after Boimler asked if they were going to be in his next book. While imitating their calls, he explained that he believed he had learned enough to walk among them, moments before a mugato jumped out of a tree and quickly decapitated him. (LD: "Mugato, Gumato")
