Background information[]

  • While the Region 2 UK release had not, the slightly later released German release had its special features split off onto a separate fourth disc.
  • Even though nowhere near as long as the previous series home video release, the two-month release delay for Regions 2 and 4 still constituted a break in the near simultaneous all regions release tradition, which had become commonplace when introduced a little while into the Blu-ray era, and harkens back to the home video release practices of the pre-Blu-ray era. The partial return to the practice is almost certainly conceived as a compromise between Paramount Home Entertainment and Prime Video, the first-time streamer of the series for the rest of the world outside North America, and who had strong commercial incentives for delaying a physical home video format for as long as possible (see main article). The sharp reduction of the release delay time-span though, was in itself an indication that Paramount Global was preparing to cut Prime Video out of the franchise equation in favor of their own streaming service (see: Streaming war).
  • Like the German Region 2 release, the region 4 release had the special features located on a separate fourth disc as well.
  • Excerpts from all special features were already featured as bonus featurettes in The Ready Room fourth season episodes dealing with Picard's second season. However, almost none of these were actually included as such on the home video formats as eventually released, a particular policy practice introduced for all Kurtzman-era Star Trek home video format releases, starting with the prior series release.
