The term Asian, Asiatic, or Oriental referred to anything originating from the Earth continent of Asia.

In a deleted scene from "The Corbomite Maneuver", Orientals were said to have been portrayed as villains in movies regarding the Sino-Western trouble. Admired by Sulu in his youth, they had "drooping eyelids" and "mysterious expressions" that he spent hours trying to copy.
