"Hey, Narj, what got you into the prison business, huh? Just a cruel weirdo who loves locking people up?"
"A prison is a place for criminals. I've given these sweet creatures a safe home.
"
– Beckett Mariner and Narj, 2381 ("I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee")

Narj was the proprietor of Narj's Miraculous Menagerarium in the 24th century. His favorite animal in the menagerie was a moopsy. He had a habit of referring to himself in the third person.

In 2381, Narj accidentally put two Humans on display in his menagerie, as he had trouble distinguishing between bipedal species. After this was discovered, he received a USS Cerritos away team sent to retrieve them, consisting of Commander Jack Ransom, Lieutenant jg Beckett Mariner, and Ensign Gary. As he showed them to the Human exhibit, Mariner accused him of being a "cruel weirdo" with a "*bleep*ed up hobby." Narj was offended, replying that he cared for his creatures and abided by Federation law.

Narj then noticed his moopsy outside its enclosure and fled in a panic. He and the Starfleet officers took refuge inside the main control room, but the moopsy bypassed the door through the ventilation system and attacked Narj from above. Despite being botanical in nature, Narj's physiology was ossified, leading him to be drained in moments by the bone-drinking moopsy.

Later, the Cerritos personnel learned that the Humans on display had released the moopsy in an effort to murder Narj and usurp ownership of his lucrative menagerie. (LD: "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee")

Narj was voiced by Carl Clemons-Hopkins.
