In 2370, Julian Bashir and Miles O'Brien encountered a type of nano-biogenic weapon called the harvesters, on a T'Lani cruiser. They attacked the individual cells in a body, resulting in a very slow and very painful death. O'Brien was in contact with the harvesters, and became infected. However, Bashir later saved his life.
