Mexler was the name of a composer in the script of the Star Trek: The Next Generation fourth season episode "Data's Day". In the script, Data suggested playing a piece by Mexler to make Miles O'Brien feel more at home in Data's quarters when he visited the android seeking guidance concerning his proposed marriage with Keiko Ishikawa.
