Memory Alpha
This page describes one of Memory Alpha's policies and guidelines.
Please read through the policy below to familiarize yourself with our common practices and rules.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page.

Memory Alpha's goal is to be the most definitive, accurate, and accessible encyclopedia and reference for everything related to Star Trek. Towards that end, Memory Alpha will cover information about every member in, and every item used in, a Star Trek production that we are aware of.

Memory Alpha encourages any production staff members to contribute. If you worked on a production and would like to be verified, please contact us at enmemoryalpha@gmail[.]com or memoryalpha@fandom[.]com so we can start that process. Please note that, like all contributions to Memory Alpha, anything you contribute will be considered to be released under the CC-BY-NC license, which means it may be edited by other users at some point.

In some cases, our page on a staff member may be the only page for that person online. We understand that the subject of an article will feel a certain ownership over the material of that page, but MA does have a number of particular policies and guidelines about how subjects are covered that may conflict with changes a person may want to make to "their" article. Frequently, these are:

  1. Change of name
  2. Removal or correction of information already on the page
  3. Publicizing or advertising for the subject

Since Memory Alpha is Star Trek focused, we prioritize those credits over others. Memory Alpha articles for production staff are generally named for their last known Star Trek credit. For example: Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi is at Alexander Siddig, though he was also credited as Siddig El Fadil. While we don't rename articles if someone changes their name after working on a production except to correct deadnames, we can and will update the article itself to reflect that change.

While Memory Alpha will list all publicly available information on a subject, we understand that for professional reasons some production staff may want certain information to not be included. Verified production staff, or verified representatives of staff, may request for information to be removed from articles. While we generally will not remove information about Star Trek projects that they worked on, information such as birthdays and non-Trek related info can be removed upon review by administrators. If you have tried to remove information from an article about yourself or a person you represent, please be aware that most likely that info will be restored if you are not verified.

If there is any information on Memory Alpha that you know to be incorrect, please let us know. If we have misidentified someone or something, we will want to correct that information. You can use the article talk pages or Ten Forward on site, or email us at the address above. Some mistakes may be from other sources though, no one is perfect, so generally in those cases Memory Alpha would report both sides of the issue.
