Alternate reality
Aboard Starfleet ships in the alternate reality, a Medical Code was practiced.
One of its directives allowed an individual's attending physician to make decisions regarding the treatment and transportation of the patient in question. In 2258 of this reality Doctor Leonard McCoy cited this section of the code while attempting to sneak Cadet James T. Kirk on board the USS Enterprise. (Star Trek)
