Krall's base

Krall's base

Krall's base was an encampment located inside a crater on the planet Altamid. (Star Trek Beyond)

History[]

This base was built by the former commanding officer of the USS Franklin, Captain Balthazar Edison, after the Franklin crash landed on Altamid in 2164. The facility's construction made use of a drone workforce and ships from a previous civilization, all of which was discovered by Edison, who renamed himself "Krall", and two surviving members of the Franklin's crew: Jessica Wolff and Anderson Le, who were renamed "Kalara" and "Manas" respectively. The site was used by Krall to hold prisoners taken from ships he captured and to use energy transference on those prisoners to prolong the lives of himself, Kalara, and Manas for the next 100 years.

In 2263 of the alternate reality, Krall took most of the crew of the USS Enterprise to his base, where he held them as his prisoners, to continue prolonging his and Manas' life, and to find the last piece of a weapon called the Abronath. The base thereafter became the site of a rescue operation and a battle. The former was an attempt to rescue the captured crew, a mission undertaken by Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, Doctor McCoy, and Jaylah after they found the wreckage of the Franklin, while Krall prepared to launch an attack on Starbase Yorktown. Using a distraction which was orchestrated by Kirk riding through Krall's base on a PX70 motorcycle and embellished by Jaylah using holographic technology, the group was able to free the Enterprise crew from the facility and beam them safely aboard the Franklin. Though Krall managed to escape with the Abronath, Manas was killed during the battle at the base. (Star Trek Beyond)
