In the script for the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episode "Time Squared", Kobe beef was a type of beef from Earth. When William T. Riker was preparing for his Alaskan stew, he found that the USS Enterprise-D computer could not replicate moose meat for an authentic stew. Instead, the computer fabricated a meat which came somewhere in between the venison from a musk ox and Kobe beef.
