Kenneth A. Larson (born 31 August 1955; age 68) is a set designer, propmaker, and special effects artist who worked as propmaker for Don Elliott on Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and as special effects artist for Dick Brownfield on the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Encounter at Farpoint" for which he worked as electrician and rigger. In 2002 he made the CAD Drafting for Paramount Studios theme attraction Borg Encounter in the Space Park in Bremen, Germany and in 2003 he created the Design desk for a Star Trek fan.
Larson received degrees in Architecture and Interior Design and started to work as designer and modelmaker for several amusement parks in the 1970s including "Neptune's Kingdom" (1975-1976). The following years Larson worked as model maker, prop designer, special effects artist, and visual effects set designer on television series such as Battlestar Galactica (1979-1980), Buck Rogers in the 24th Century (1979-1980), Cheers, Happy Days, Dallas, Max Headroom, Knight Rider, Air Wolf, Murder, She Wrote, Tales from the Crypt, Home Improvement, Boy Meets World, The Pretender, The X-Files, Titus, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Sleeper Cell (2006-2007), and Rizzoli & Isles (2010).
Larson's film work include The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979), The Beastmaster (1982), Splash (1984), 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984), Child's Play (1988), The Abyss (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Die Hard II (1991), Batman Returns (1992), Addams Family Values (1993), Batman Forever (1995), Independence Day (1996), Contact (1997), Batman & Robin (1997), Shrek (2001), American Pie 2 (2001), and The Polar Express (2004).
In the more recent years, Larson worked as drafting artist for various interior design projects, trade show displays and theme park attractions.
