Katy E. Garretson (born 15 May 1963; age 61) is a former assistant director and current television director. She was the Second Assistant Director on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Garretson was a trainee on such productions as the 1989 film Black Rain (which featured Richard Riehle and Stephen Root) and the television series L.A. Law (starring Corbin Bernsen and Larry Drake). She then became a Second Assistant Director on a trio of Columbo TV specials, followed by films like Switch and Double Dragon and the 1993 TV movie Rio Shannon, which starred Robert Beltran. For the 1994 film Clifford, Garretson reunited with Star Trek VI's First Assistant Director Douglas E. Wise.

She worked as both a Second Assistant Director and First Assistant Director on Kelsey Grammer's hit television series Frasier from 1993 through 2000. She was also a First Assistant Director on a number of short-lived television shows such as CBS' Pearl and Welcome to New York and NBC's Encore! Encore! and In-Laws.

She has since become a principal director. Between 1999 and 2004, she directed 11 episodes of Frasier. Other television shows she has directed include Reba (starring Scarlett Pomers), Girlfriends (starring Golden Brooks), and George Lopez. She has been nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Director.
