John Bettis (born 24 October 1946; age 77) is a American songwriter focusing on lyrics known for writing songs for The Carpenters, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and George Strait (among may others).

Bettis wrote the lyrics to accompany Jerry Goldsmith's music for the song The Moon's a Window to Heaven that was performed by Hiroshima and featured in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
