Hironobu "Hiro" Kanagawa (born 13 October 1963; age 60) is a Japanese-born Canadian actor and playwright who played Doctor Hirai in the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery.

Born in Sapporo, Japan, he grew up in Guelph, Ontario, Canada and Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA, before returning to his country of birth to attend the International Christian High School in Tokyo, where he acted in his first student films and theatrical productions. He returned to the US where he attended Middlebury College in Vermont, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, and the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He settled in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1990.

In 2001 he played Gihren Zabi in the English dub of Mobile Suit Gundam, which also featured Michael Benyaer.

He appeared in several mainstream Hollywood films, including 2005's Elektra (with Cary-Hiroyuki and Jason Isaacs, directed by Rob Bowman), the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still (with Robert Knepper and Alisen Down), 2014's Godzilla, and 2015's The Age of Adaline.
