Gordon Dawson (20 April 1938 – 6 March 2023; age 84) wrote the story of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine third season episode "Shakaar".

Dawson worked with legendary director Sam Peckinpah on five of his fourteen films, including the The Wild Bunch, The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, The Getaway, and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.

He appeared in many documentaries about Peckinpah, including Sam Peckinpah: Man of Iron, Sam Peckinpah's West: Legacy of a Hollywood Renegade, A Simple Adventure Story: Sam Peckinpah, Mexico and The Wild Bunch and Passion & Poetry: The Ballad of Sam Peckinpah. David Weddle also worked on and appeared in several of the documentaries. Dawson was voiced by DS9 guest star Mitch David Carter in The Wild Bunch: An Album in Montage documentary.

Dawson worked with Ira Steven Behr on the short-lived Bret Maverick television series in the early 1980s. Dawson also wrote episodes of Bonanza, Lou Grant, The Rockford Files, Walker, Texas Ranger, Renegade, Silk Stalkings, and Diagnosis Murder,
