Gorad was a Ferengi and an uncle of Quark and Rom.
In 2372, Quark intended to pay off the debt with the money he received from the sale of his vacuum-desiccated remains, after his death. After accepting a bid of 500 bars of latinum, and paying off his many Ferengi debtors, including his mother, he had 196 bars left over to pay off his Uncle Gorad and Cousin Gaila. (DS9: "Body Parts")
