The gamma pulse ignition device was a technological device that emitted gamma radiation for igniting explosives.
Some of these devices were portable. If one of these devices was not being used in a high-radiation environment, a number of them would use Walkerite 342. An example of a gamma pulse ignition device was the Type 12 Hillebrand detonator. (TNG: "Night Terrors")
