Elizabeth Hoffman (8 February 192621 August 2023; age 97) was the actress who played the role of Bhavani in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "The Price".

Career[]

Born in Corvallis, Oregon, Hoffman portrayed Miss Mason in three episodes of Little House on the Prairie (1980-1981). She was featured in Fear No Evil (1981) and had guest roles in The Greatest American Hero (1982, with Nicholas Worth), The Winds of War (1983, with Jeremy Kemp and Michael Ensign), The A-Team (1983, with Melinda Culea, Dwight Schultz, and Tony Brubaker), Blue Thunder (1984), and Hunter (1985).

Further film appearances include Do You Remember Love (1985, with Richard Kiley, Jerry Hardin, and Jim Metzler), Nuts (1987, with Dakin Matthews, "The Price" co-star Castulo Guerra, Dana Dru Evenson, and Tina Lifford), Elvis and Me (1988, with Anne Haney and Marshall R. Teague), Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! (1989, with Richard Beymer and Carlos Palomino), Born on the Fourth of July (1989, with Caroline Kava, Mike Starr, Ed Lauter, and Bob Gunton), the television drama The Great Pretender (1991, with Bruce Greenwood, Gregg Henry, Robert Ito, and Kevin McCorkle), and The River Wild (1994, with William Lucking and Glenn Morshower).

In 1988, Hoffman reprised her role as Eleanor Roosevelt for the television mini series War and Remembrance on which she worked with Jeremy Kemp, John Rhys-Davies, and William Schallert. She also had recurring roles as Jeanne Rubens in two episodes of L.A. Law (1989, with Corbin Bernsen, Larry Drake, Phil Rubenstein, Raye Birk, Nancy Vawter, Paul Collins, Eric Menyuk, Mary Anne McGarry, Michael Cavanaugh, and Brian McNamara) and as Judge Mary Russell in five episodes of Matlock (1989-1990, with Michael Durrell, David Froman, Brenda Strong, Cynthia Gouw, Steven Anderson, Michael Spound, Heidi Swedberg, Daniel Roebuck, Albert Hall, T.J. McGee, Roxann Dawson, Jeremy Roberts, Jason Wingreen, and John Anderson).

Following another recurring role as Eleanor Krieger on thirtysomething (1989-1991), Hoffman starred as Beatrice "Bee" Reed in 127 episodes of Sisters (1991-1996, co-starring Ashley Judd and Stephen Collins).

She later portrayed Grandma Ruth in Dante's Peak (1997, with Tzi Ma and Bill Bolender) and had a recurring role as Catherine Langford in two episodes of Stargate SG-1 (1997 and 1998, with Keene Curtis and Paul McGillion).
