Edward French (born 17 April 1951; age 73) is an Emmy Award-winning makeup effects artist hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. He counts LeVar Burton, John de Lancie, Iman, Christopher Plummer, William Shatner, Wallace Shawn, and Paul Winfield among his star clients. [1]

He was a makeup artist on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1989 through 1993 and shared an Emmy Award nomination for his work on the episode "Identity Crisis". He then worked as special makeup effects artist and special alien makeup creator on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, earning an Awards Circuit Community Award and Best Makeup Oscar nomination from the Academy Awards (shared with Michael M. Mills and Richard Snell) and a Best Make-Up Saturn Award nomination from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films (shared with Mills). In 1999, he provided alien prosthetic applications for Star Trek: Voyager.

French won his first Emmy Award for his work on Alien Nation, starring Gary Graham, Eric Pierpoint, Michele Scarabelli and Ron Fassler. He has received Emmy Award nominations for his work on an episode of Space Rangers, an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and two episodes of Mad TV. His most recent Emmy nomination in 2007 – for the prosthetic makeup used in an episode of House – resulted in his second win. He also won two Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Awards for his work on Mad TV.

Besides Star Trek VI, other films in which French's make-up effects can be seen include Sleepaway Camp (1983), C.H.U.D. (1984), Creepshow 2 (1987), Vampire's Kiss (1988), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Batman Returns (1992), True Lies (1994), Eraser (1996), Batman & Robin (1995), Armageddon (1998), Blade (1998), Being John Malkovich (1999), White Chicks (2004), The Black Dahlia (2006) and Epic Movie (2007). His television credits also include Tales from the Darkside, Sliders, The X-Files, Charmed, Six Feet Under, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, Monk, and NCIS, as well as a number of commercials and music videos.
