A debriefing was a meeting where an officer was questioned by an interrogator after a mission in order to obtain intelligence.

In 3189, Fleet Admiral Charles Vance ordered the crew of the USS Discovery to be debriefed by Starfleet Command personnel. For the debriefing, individuals were called in by their departments. Afterwards, their stories would be checked for consistency with the tale told by Captain Saru and Commander Michael Burnham. (DIS: "Die Trying")
