Khan in cryo tube

Khan Noonien Singh in a cryotube

A cryo-stasis chamber was a stasis chamber used in cryonics as a means of preserving a lifeform in suspended animation through cryogenic stasis for later revival or retrieval. Multiple terms, including cryogenic chamber, cryo-chamber, cryo-stasis tube, cryo-tube, or cryo unit were used to describe this type of technology

Over three hundred people, including Amelia Earhart, were abducted from Earth in 1937 by the Briori, and brought to their colony planet in the Delta Quadrant to work as slaves. Earhart and seven others remained in cryostasis on the planet until they were revived by the crew of USS Voyager in 2371. (VOY: "The 37's")

Cryo tubes were used on sleeper ships from late 20th century Earth. After warp capability was achieved, the need for cryostasis became obsolete. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

The Obsidian Order used cryogenic chambers to preserve biological subjects at cryogenic temperatures. In 2371, Entek showed Kira Nerys a cryogenic chamber that apparently contained her own corpse, in an attempt to convince that she was actually a surgically-altered Cardassian named Iliana Ghemor. (DS9: "Second Skin")
