Caldos weather control atmospheric survey

The Caldos weather substation monitoring atmospheric patterns

The Coriolis force was the effect on an object's movement caused by the rotation of a planetary body.

During atmospheric flight, a Federation Constitution-class starship's navcom constantly collected data on Coriolis force-related rotational motions in order to maintain stability. In 2257, Lieutenant Spock used these readings as the basis for creating Program Vinci 7, which allowed the USS Enterprise to track enemy Gorn vessels inside a brown dwarf. (SNW: "Memento Mori")

The Caldos colony weather substation tracked Coriolis force data on Caldos relevant to its weather control system. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")
