A cheerleader was an individual who led spectators in cheering for a sports team.
According to the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, pp. 536-537, the sets for the offices of Incredible Tales of Scientific Wonder for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine sixth season episode "Far Beyond the Stars" contained pinned-up memo from Douglas Pabst, including one to Herbert Rossoff advising that "no one would believe that a cheerleader could kill vampires". The companion further notes that this inside joke works on two levels, as Rossoff's counterpart, Armin Shimerman, appeared for several seasons on the series Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.
The memo has not been identified in the aired version of the episode, possibly being illegible.
