A chapter was a thematic division, usually within a story such as in a book, movie, or holographic program, and could be organized by a number and title.

After time traveling from 2373 to 2063, Jean-Luc Picard entered a Dixon Hill holoprogram and told the Enterprise-E computer to begin chapter thirteen after he realized it was the wrong chapter because Nicky the Nose hadn't been around in months.

Geordi La Forge mentioned that the first chapter of the Basic Warp Design course at Starfleet Academy was called Zefram Cochrane. (Star Trek: First Contact)

In 2370, Doctor Beverly Crusher fell asleep reading a particularly erotic chapter of a journal which belonged to her deceased grandmother Felisa Howard. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")

In 2375, after Tom Paris objected to The Doctor pausing the The Adventures of Captain Proton holographic program during the final chapter, which was titled "Satan's Robot Conquers the World", the Doctor asked Paris if the phrase "to be continued" meant anything to him. (VOY: "Night")
