A cadet review was a formation of cadets lined up for inspection.

In 1986, as James T. Kirk and his time traveling crew navigated the streets of San Francisco, Kirk directed Spock to accompany him to pawn his antique 18th-century glasses for money while the rest of the crew remained. The crew, still reeling from culture-shock, simply stood by, watching the two walk away. Kirk, exasperated at the sight of them, instructed them to disperse, saying they looked like a cadet review. The crew awkwardly followed his orders, still painfully standing out in their surroundings. Kirk, fed up with their antics, left them to their jobs and went on his way with Spock.
