The bravo-six maneuver was a standard Starfleet tactical strategy used by Federation starships during battles in the 23rd century.

In 2233 of the alternate reality, when the Narada continued its missile bombardment of the USS Kelvin, George Kirk ordered bravo-six maneuver with full weapons fire to be used against Nero's assault. The maneuver involved violent back and forth banking of the ship, while simultaneously maintaining distance to the Narada. All phaser banks and photon torpedoes were automated for point-defense and used in rapid fire bursts to destroy as many incoming missiles as possible. (Star Trek)

In the script of the film the maneuver was called evasive Delta-5 maneuver. [1] The name was changed to Bravo-six for the film. The Delta-5 evasive pattern was previously mentioned but not seen in DS9: "The Search, Part I", when the USS Defiant used it to keep two Jem'Hadar fighters off balance as they were making a slow attack run on the ship.
