A birthday party was a social gathering held in the honor of an individual, celebrating the anniversary of the day on which they were born. It was common for a birthday party to be a surprise party.

On September 2nd, 2151, Malcolm Reed celebrated a birthday. His parents told Captain Archer that they hadn't seen him on his birthday for "quite a few years". Archer ordered Hoshi Sato to find out what Reed's favorite food was so they could have a birthday meal. Sato later found out from Doctor Phlox that it was pineapple, and the crew surprised him with a pineapple birthday cake. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

In 2154, Jonathan Archer discovered archive video footage of Arik Soong and his Augment children having a birthday party on Trialas IV. (ENT: "Cold Station 12")

In the alternate reality, Captain James T. Kirk did not like celebrating his birthday because it was also the day his father died. Nevertheless, Leonard McCoy invited the crew of the USS Enterprise to party with Kirk on January 4, 2263, having worked together to save Starbase Yorktown from a Krall attack. (Star Trek Beyond)

Benjamin Sisko recalled once to Jadzia Dax that Curzon, the previous host of the Dax symbiont, was never on time for anything in his life. He even missed his 100th birthday party, which was planned by Sisko over the course of three months. (DS9: "Rejoined")

Commander Riker celebrated his birthday on the USS Enterprise-D with a birthday party. Lieutenant commander Data found the tradition of a birthday party interesting, as the day of their birth was something that Humans could not possibly remember. (TNG: "Future Imperfect")

In 2370, a replicant of Miles O'Brien was concerned the crew of Deep Space 9 were going to give him a surprise birthday party. (DS9: "Whispers")

Later that year, after Lieutenant Worf returned to the USS Enterprise-D from a bat'leth competition on Forcas III, the crew threw him a surprise birthday party in his quarters, something he was not pleased about. It was later learned that Worf had been shifting between a number of alternate quantum realities where the party had taken place. In the prime universe, Riker wanted to give Lieutenant Worf a surprise party for his birthday, but Deanna Troi talked him out of it. (TNG: "Parallels")

For Kes' second birthday in 2371, the USS Voyager crew threw a surprise party for her. They explained the event (Kes found it exhilarating) and instructed her on the Earth tradition of making a wish and blowing out candles. Neelix made a seven layer Jiballian fudge cake with L'maki nut icing and punch. Tom Paris replicated a locket as a gift. (VOY: "Twisted")

When Rom and the employees of Quark's gathered to strike in 2372, Quark mentioned that if they were having a party for him, his birthday was last month. (DS9: "Bar Association")

Keiko O'Brien prepared a surprise birthday party for her husband Miles in 2373, but during the party she actually was possessed by a pah-wraith. For the party she prepared q'parol, which was a big success. (DS9: "The Assignment")

In February 2377, Geordi La Forge celebrated his birthday and included Reginald Barclay and Data in the celebration. During the party, Data and Barclay sang a duet. (VOY: "Inside Man")

Neelix once recounted a happy memory while he and Tuvok were alone in a Jefferies tube, when Voyager's crew held his birthday party in the mess hall. (VOY: "The Haunting of Deck Twelve")

In an alternate timeline, the crew of Voyager held Kes' ninth birthday party in the ship's mess hall in 2378. (VOY: "Before and After")

In 2380, a Prime booked an Event silo for his daughter's 100th birthday and was scheduled for after Clar's Etching ceremony. (LD: "Veritas")
