Benzite chess was a variant of or similar to the Earth game chess referenced in a draft of the script of the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Coming of Age". Mordock, when playing this game, constructed the Mordock Strategy. For this, he became, in the opinion of Wesley Crusher, a legend on the Galactic Computer Network. While on Relva VII, after learning that Crusher studied the strategy and played Benzite chess, Mordock invited him to lunch where they could have a discussion on the strategy.
