Applause Books is a leading American publisher of theater and cinema books, ranging from biographies of film and theater luminaries, to scripts, librettos, monologue books, and explorations of film and theater history.

In 2000, music publisher Hal Leonard acquired a majority stake in the company [1] and later acquired the entire company in 2004. [2] In 2018, Hal Leonard sold Applause Books to the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group. [3]
