"Anything Goes" was a song from the 20th century United States, which was collected, among other compositions, in the Great American Songbook.

In 2259, Ensign Nyota Uhura transmitted "Anything Goes" into a subspace fold, for an experiment in increasing the speed of subspace communication. The action of doing so triggers the anomaly that causes the Enterprise crew (and many others) to begin breaking into song. (SNW: "Subspace Rhapsody")

Lyrics[]

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking
But now, God knows, anything goes
Good authors, too, who once knew better words
Now only use four-letter words
Writing prose
Anything goes
