Antimatter inducers were critical components of starships' warp propulsion systems.

In an alternate 2153, Jonathan Archer developed a way to upgrade Enterprise's antimatter inducers, allowing them to travel farther on less fuel during their mission in the Delphic Expanse. The timeline in which this occurred was negated when a series of parasites which had infected Archer's hippocampus were eliminated, neutralizing their presence in the past as well, changing history in such a way as the infection never occurred. In 2285, James Kirk and his command crew captured a Klingon Bird-of-Prey, which was trapped in orbit over the Genesis Planet, which was in the process of tearing itself apart. Montgomery Scott and Pavel Chekov initially experienced difficulty in locating the ship's antimatter inducer, without which they would be unable to escape, although Scott was ultimately able to activate them.
