Incredible Tales, January, 1953
"1001: First Odyssey" was a science fiction story written by Albert Macklin for the January 1953 issue of Incredible Tales of Scientific Wonder magazine. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
This work's title is one of many in-jokes in Far Beyond the Stars, having been modeled on the novel 3001: the Final Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. A recent publication when the episode was produced, 3001 was the last in a tetralogy which began with 2001: A Space Odyssey, Clarke's novelization of the acclaimed 1968 science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Gary Lockwood.
