Born in 1979,^[3] Jubilee was a mutant Chinese-American foster child.^[4] At the start of her life, she spent much time in an orphanage, where another young girl taught her how to pick locks.^[5] For a year prior to to her powers manifesting during puberty, she lived with two loving foster parents. When her powers caused her to accidentally melt the family VCR, her foster father reported her to the Mutant Control Agency, believing it to be for her own good. However, a Sentinel tracked her down to a mall and tried to capture her before she was rescued by the X-Men and brought to the Xavier Institute. When she tried to return home, she was captured by two more Sentinels and Henry Gyrich, and brought to a facility in Detroit, Michigan. The X-Men rescued her again, and she moved in with them at the Xavier Mansion.^[6]

Jubilee had often been shown as a damsel in distress, though at times had proven herself. Everyone seemed to treat her like she was a child, much to her dismay, especially when Charles Xavier prevented her from doing things such as flying a X-Jet. Jubilee did develop a surrogate father/daughter relationship with Wolverine who taught her to drive.^[7]

Jubilee proved herself as capable when a cave-in traps her and a group of children in some caves, and she was able to keep the children calm long enough for the X-Men to arrive and get them out. When Charles said goodbye to his X-Men, he said "Jubilee, you are the future. When I look at your face, I see hope."^[8]

Jubilee introduced herself to Roberto Da Costa when the X-Men brought him back to the Mansion after the Friends of Humanity abducted him. Empathizing with him as she had gone through all this before. After Roberto ran off, the X-Men went to find him at a nightclub, where Jubilee shared a dance with him before they returned to the mansion. Roberto then showed his powers, gave her his card, and he left.^[9]

Jubilee and Roberto were watching a omvie when Goblin Queen unleashed Demons upon the X-Mansion. ^[10]

When Mojo abducted the pair into Motendo, Jubilee aced through the levels easily before being pulled out by Abscissa, a digital replica of herself. The pair then defeated Mojo, then Jubilee and Roberto shared a kiss afterwards.^[3]

Jubilee was later interviewed by Trish Tilby and was present when the X-Men watched the news reporting on the aftermath of the attack on Genosha.^[11]

She then attended Gambit's funeral before leaving for Genosha with the rest of the X-Men. Jubilee and Roberto then split off from the group for him to come out to his Mom as a mutant.^[12] She then took off with him on some retail therapy, changing up her outfit before everyone around them turned into Prime Sentinels. Recounting her last experience with Sentinels at malls claiming to be done with malls. The pair split off and Jubes ran up to the roof, jumping off and being caught by Roberto before crashing Nina Da Costa's fundraiser party and being collared and taken away by Prime Sentinels.^[13]

That didn't last long though as Magneto unleashed a Global EMP, deactivating their Inhibitor Collars and the Prime Sentinels that detained them. The Friends of Humanity then backed the pair into a corner. They were later rescued by Storm and Forge and met back up with the rest of the X-Men. Now on Blue Team, Jubilee went to Asteroid M and faced off against an apologetic Sunspot, she wasn't having any of his apologies though and kept fighting. ^[14]

Now back on the same side, Jubilee fought with the X-Men against Bastion before being sucked out of Asteroid M and rescued by Sunspot. Back on the ground with Forge, Val Cooper, and Sunspot, she watched in horror as the Asteroid disappeared taking the X-Men with it.

Six months after the disappearance of the active X-Men roster, Jubilee had gone AWOL and was listed as such on Forge's roster of X-Men. ^[15]

• Jubilee's eyes are depicted as brown throughout most of the series, but in later seasons are depicted as blue.
• Jubilee turned 18 in 1997, making her 13 when she first joined the X-Men in 1992.^[3]
