The Man-Eating Vines are mutated plants created by Tristar Pictures that first appeared in Godzilla: The Series episode "Hive".

Design[]

Appearance[]

These plants look like long vines coming out of the ground, however these are not creatures that operate separately, they are actually common-looking extensions of trees, these vines sprout from the roots and are used as a method of defense against possible threats.

Origin[]

Man-eating vines were created as a product of radiation that contained the ashes of the volcano on the island of Santa Marta, acting as fertilizer and mutating them.

History[]

When looters visited the island of Santa Marta to steal material goods that its inhabitants forgot during the evacuation due to the volcano's eruption, the Man-Eating Vines attacked them, forcing them to leave the island. HEAT traveled to the island to investigate what had happened, but the motor of the boat broke down and the group split up, Nick and Randy stayed to repair the motor, Mendel and Monique went to a hotel to investigate and Elsie was left alone studying the plants, but was attacked. While Mendel and Monique arrived to investigate the building the plants appeared and took NIGEL, Nick and Randy had ventured on the island to warn others about the eruption of the volcano and were attacked by the killer trees, but Godzilla appeared to help, however he was immobilized by them, but Nick and Randy used lasers to cut them, later Nick found Elsie and both were attacked but managed to elude them, they went to rescue Randy who had been kidnapped by a giant mutant bee and were attacked again, but Godzilla defended them. While Godzilla was fighting the mutant giant bee queen he was attacked by the plants once more, but he managed to uproot them and use them to hit the bee, the plants subsequently becoming extinct due to the destruction of the island.

Abilities[]

  • Growth: man-eating vines can grow and stretch a lot.
  • Strength: They are strong enough to immobilize Godzilla.
  • Fusion: They have the ability to combine with each other to form larger and more robust vines.
  • Constriction: Man-Eating Vines can constrict and suffocate their prey.
  • Underground attack: They move underground and violently emerge to the surface allowing them to surprise and ambush their prey.

Weaknesses[]

  • Uprooting: If they are uprooted from the ground they will remain defenseless.
