After Great Bay Temple
After Great Bay Temple, there are plenty of new options that are now open to you with the addition of the Zora Mask, Hookshot, and the murky water clearing the Great Bay. You'll finally be able to clear some of the game's longest sidequests, obtain the Mask of Truth, and more, before heading to the Ikana Canyon and the fourth dungeon.
Here is a list of items you can obtain in the Great Bay, Clock Town, Mountain Village, and the greater Termina Field:
Heart Pieces
Great Bay
Heart Piece #24 - If you missed it after getting the Zora Mask, head to the waterfall near the Zora Cape, and dive down to the bottom. Defeat the enemies down there and grab the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #25 - In case you passed on it earlier, bottle up 4 fish (you can find many swimming around leading to the waterfall by the Zora Cape) and bring them to the Marine Research Lab in the Great Bay Coast. Look for 2 fish in a tank, and drop the bottled fish through the top of the tank. Eventually one fish will eat the other, giving you the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #26 - If you sped through the Pirate Fortress, you might have missed this one by the entrance. After swimming through the underwater entrance and navigating the underwater maze, look for a Heart Piece behind a cell door. Smash the nearby barrels up top as Goron Link and then jump on the switch to open the door. The door closes fast so use the Bunny Hood for a burst of speed.
Heart Piece #27 - While you are in the Pirate Fortress, take a picture of one of the Gerudo Pirates. You can do this either after stunning them, or grabbing the Stone Mask and walking right up to one of them. Bring the picture to the Fisherman on the Great Bay Coast to get the seahorse to lead you to Pinnacle Rock. Once there, defeat all of the sea snakes (using Zora Link's electrical barrier) and the two seahorses will be reunited, giving you the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #28 - If you missed this one while running off to the Great Bay Temple, you might need to rewind time to before the Temple is cleared. First go to Mikau and Tijo's room, and hookshot above Tijo onto the tree where Mikau's area was. You can read his diary entry for a song he was composing with Japas, culminating in two sets of notes: A V > A, and V > < V . Go to Japas room and use these two sets to do another jam session, completing the song: > > V A A V > A , < < > V V > < V . With the complete song, go to Evan, the band leader's room. He won't listen to any song Mikau has to play, but if you play both sequences as normal Link, he will take credit for the song and give you a Heart Piece in return.
Heart Piece #29 - In the Zora Hall, go to Lulu's room to find a Business Deku Scrub. You can chase him out of here by gathering up previous Land Title Deeds from Clock Town, Southern Swamp, and the Mountain Village. Trade it for the Ocean Title Deed, then use the flower pad to get to the Heart Piece on a ledge.
Heart Piece #30 - In the Zora Cape near the waterfall, hookshot between the trees to the very top of the waterfall to find a passage with an area containing a beaver. He will challenge you to a race in which you must pass through colored hoops under a certain time limit. Beat him, and his brother to get an Empty Bottle, and do it once more in faster times (and a different route for his brother) to get the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #31 - After the Great Bay Temple is cleared, head up the Great Bay Coast towards the Pirate Fortress to find a boat with a sign among the rocks. Hop on the boat as it sails past a tiny group of islands and hookshot onto the tree. The sailor here will challenge you to a minigame where you must jump between the five small platforms to whichever platform has a lit torch. Do this 20 times without falling off - before the timer is up to win a Heart Piece. You can use the Bunny Hood for extra speed, but beware the longer jumps.
Heart Piece #32 - First, make sure you've created a Scarecrow song by going to one of the scarecrows in Clock Town (general store or astral observatory) and play a song for them. Then, travel to the Deku Palace and grab some magic beans from the seller under the palace, and some fresh spring water while you're down there. Return to the Great Bay Coast and head North on the path to the Pirate Fortress. Along the cliffs to the right are several Hookshot targets. Zip between them until you get to the last one that has a patch of soft dirt. Plant the seed and water it to get the next platform, and Tatl will wander to the last platform that is just out of reach. Play the scarecrow song to make him appear, and hookshot onto him to reach the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #33 - Enter the Coastal Skultulla House near the fisherman's hut and bomb the entrance. Slide down the ramp and hookshot over the gate into the next area. With the Captain's hat equipped talk to the two Stalchildren in the top floor library, and the four other Stalchildren in the downstairs room around a table. Each one will give you instructions on which mask to hit in what order. The masks are located above the fireplace in the room with the four Stalchildren. Make sure you memorize the order before firing, and go through the opened grate to get the Heart Piece.
Termina Field
Heart Piece #34 - Right before the entrance to the Great Bay Coast is a large boulder. Smash it open with Goron Link or bomb it, then drop down and approach the pool of water. Defeat the enemies then shoot down the beehives above the pool, then drop down as Zora Link to retrieve the Heart Piece.
Mountain Village
Heart Piece #35 - This sidequest will take you all over Termina, so make sure you start on the first day, and slow down time so you can complete the tasks at your own pace. Start by traveling to Snowhead Temple and defeating Goht. When you arrive back in the thawed Mountain Village, speak to the frog wearing Don Gero's Mask to learn that there are other missing frogs that must be reunited at the pond. You can find the other frogs in the following locations:
- The Laundry Pool in Clock Town
- On a fallen log in the Southern Swamp (before the poisoned water but after the first tunnel heading to the Deku Palace)
- Defeating the Gekko miniboss in Woodfall Temple
- Defeating the Gekko miniboss in the Great Bay Temple
Once you have spoken to each frog with Don Gero's mask, return to the Mountain Village and speak with them all one last time to get the Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #36 - With Snowhead Temple cleared and spring returned, go to the path towards the Goron Village where the lake is now unfrozen, and dive under as Zora Link to find a chest with a Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #37 - First make sure you've created a Scarecrow Song, then travel on the road towards Snowhead with all the jumps and rolling snowballs. Look for a platform far off in the distance and use the Lens of Truth to reveal a set of platforms. Jump as far as you can until Tatl flies off to the platform out of reach. Play the Scarecrow song and hookshot across to claim the Heart Piece.
Romani Ranch
Heart Piece #38 - First off, make sure you complete the Southern Swamp Skulltula House to get the Mask of Truth (see below) and then blow up the boulder on milk road or travel there on the third day. Enter the Doggy Racetrack and speak to the woman who will ask you to find the dog you think will win. With the Mask of Truth equipped, pick up a dog to find out what it is thinking. You'll need to find one that says something along the lines of feeling unstoppable. Now bet at least 50 ruppees that it will win and watch the race. Even if it doesn't win, your dog will probably score in the top 3, so keep trying until the dog wins to get the Heart Piece.
Clock Town
Heart Piece #39 - Claim the Giant Wallet from clearing the Coastal Skultulla House (see below) and set about saving up 5,000 Rupees. One the easiest ways to do this is heading out into South Termina Field towards Milk Road and shooting down the thieving bird with fire arrows. Upon its death it will drop a large gold rupee - worth 200 rupees! Repeat the process as needed until you have 5,000 saved in the bank, where the banker will reward you with a Piece of Heart.
Heart Piece #40 - Use all of your new found money to get ahold of the All-Night Mask (see below) and enter the Stock Pot Inn. Speak to Anju's Grandmother with the All-Night Mask, and offer to listen to the 2 hour story. When she asks a question at the end, respond with "On the eve of the carnival" and she will reward you with a Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #41 - Same as above, but this time ask to listen to the second story that lasts until dawn. When she asks a question this time, just respond with "I dunno" and you'll still get a Heart Piece. At least you tried.
Heart Piece #42 - Begin the long Anju and Kafei side quest, up until you are able to get the Keaton Mask. With this mask, find any of the group of bushes that jump around when cut (North Clock Town, Milk Road, Mountain Village) Cut every single bush with the Keaton Mask equipped, and an actual Keaton will appear. Answer all of it's questions (you can use This answer guide) and you will receive a Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #43 - During the Anju and Kafei side quest, you will have the opportunity to get the Postman's Hat (see below). Once gained, simply access any mailbox in Clock Town wearing the hat to get a Heart Piece.
Heart Piece #44 - The very end of the Anju and Kafei side quest will reward you with the Couple's Mask (see below). With the couples mask, go to the Mayor's Office while the eternal argument is taking place, and wear the mask to end it once and for all. You will be rewarded for this with a Heart Piece.
Masks
Great Bay
Stone Mask - In case you missed it during the Pirate Fortress sequence, make sure you pick up a red potion first before going into the main area. When you get close enough to the center watchtower, Tatl will remark that she thought she heard a voice. That's your cue to don the Lens of Truth. Behind one of the boxes near the watchtower you will find Shiro, a Clock Town guard who cannot be seen by anyone else. Give him a health potion to get him back on his feet, and he'll give you the Stone Mask.
Southern Swamp
Mask of Truth - Head to the Southern Swamp where the Swamp Spider House is located, but be sure to stop by the Deku Palace for some magic beans and fresh spring water. Now head to the house and burn down the webs blocking the entrance. Inside, you will need to clear out all 30 Gold Skulltulas to rid a man of a curse. In the first room, you'll also see some rocks, so pick them up and catch at least 2 bugs. The locations of the Gold Skulltulas are a follow:
- Enter the next room Drop down to the left and get the skulltula under the small pot (#1).
- Lay bugs on the ground beneath the two soft soil spots on the walls; they will release two skulltulas (#2-#3).
- Get the skulltula in the water nearby (#4).
- There are also three skulltulas high up on three of the stone columns (#5-#7).
- From the entrance, go through the door on the left. Roll into brown crates here to find two (#8-#9).
- Check for the one on the north wall (#10).
- Climb up the ladder and shoot the skulltula on the big center stone tablet (#11).
- Go around to the door on the top floor and get the skulltula beneath the small pot (#12), then go through the door.
- Launch across to the other side of the room. Turn right and use bugs to reach the soft soil spot on the wall (#13), then go through the door on the top floor.
- Drop down and destroy the small pots to the right for one (#14).
- Goron punch all the huge pots to find two (#15-#16).
- Look up and shoot the beehives down to find two more (#17-#18).
- Chop up the vines on the left side, and go through to get a skulltula (#19).
- Play the Sonata of Awakening in front of the sleeping Deku, then launch up to the top ledge. Shoot the skulltula on the wall (#20), and go through the door on the left.
- Shoot the skulltula on the stone column (#21)
- Shoot the beehives down to find another one (#22).
- There are two more on the wall to the right (#23-24).
- Hit the crystal to form a ladder, then climb up it. Plant a Magic Bean at the soft soil spot and grow it, then ride the platform to the door and go through. Look around in the tall grass for two skulltulas (#25-#26).
- Shoot the beehives to find one (#27).
- Finally, roll into the tree to pop out the final three (#28-#30). Go back to the first room and get your reward from the man.
Clock Town
Troupe Leader's Mask - Travel to East Clock Town and enter the Milk bar after 10 PM. Talk to the Zora near the stage as normal Link, Goron Link, Zora Link, and Deku Link (in any order) to play a melody using each instrument. After you play the whole melody with each mask and instrument, Gorman will give you his mask.
All-Night Mask - Once you've collected a fair amount of Rupees (it's reccomended to get Heart Piece #39 first) withdraw 500 Rupees (with the Huge Wallet) and wait at North Clock Town on the first night at midnight. Save the old lady from Sakon the Thief, then fast forward to 10PM on the final night. Enter the Curiosity Shop and buy the All-Night Mask for 500 Rupees.
Kafei's Mask, Keaton Mask, Postman's Hat, Couples Mask - Since all of these masks can be obtained during the same chain of quests, they will all be addresed in this next section - also known as the Anju and Kafei Sidequest.
(It is reccomended you use the song of double time to speed up to certain events, and the song of inverted time to make sure you have enough time to do other events.
Day 1: Starting at 10:00 AM, head to the Mayor's Office in East Clock Town. Speak to Madam Aroma through the door on the right and offer to help find her missing son, and she will give you Kafei's Mask.
At 2:10 PM, you can travel to the Stock Pot Inn to witness the Postman deliver a letter from Kafei to Anju (witnessing this is not required).
After the Postman leaves at 2:15 PM, speak with Anju at the Stock Pot Inn, and she will confuse with a Goron of the same name, and give you a room key.
By 4:00 PM, the Goron in question will come to get his key, only to be turned away (witnessing this is not required).
After getting the Room Key, speak to Anju wearing Kafei's Mask, and she will tell you to meet her in the Stock Pot Inn's kitchen at night.
At 12:00 AM, meet with Anju in the kitchen and she will give you a letter to send to Kafei.
Day 2: You now have until 9:00 AM to deposit the letter to Kafei in any mailbox in Clock Town, BEFORE the postman makes his run.
At 3:00 PM, head to the Laundry Pool and wait for the Postman to ring the bell for Kafei at 3:10 PM. While he is distracted with the Postman, run into the back door of the Curiosity Shop.
At 4:10 PM, Kafei will return, and when you confront him to learn the truth about what happened to him. He will then give you the Pendant of Memories.
You can now give the Pendant to Anju to make sure she stays and waits for Kafei on the final night - do this before 7:00 PM on the Final Day.
If you give Anju the Pendant on the second day, you can go to your room at 9:00 PM to listen in on a conversation between Anju and her mother in the next room. (witnessing this is not required).
Since you are not supposed to save the old lady from Sakon the Thief, you can also go to the Curiosity Shop at 12:30 AM to witness Sakon selling the stolen bomb bags (witnessing this is not required).
Day 3: At 1:00 PM, return to Kafei's hideout at the back of the Curiosity Shop in the Laundry Pool, and speak to the owner. He will give you both the Keaton Mask, and the Special Delivery to Mama.
At 6:00 PM, head to Ikana Canyon and go to the lower area before the river to where Sakon's hideout is located. Wait with Kafei before entering the cave to get back what was stolen from him.
Inside, you will alternate between playing as Link and Kafei to solve a series of puzzles: As Kafei, push a block on the blue switch, and as Link, kill the Deku Baba.
Next, as Kafei, avoid the red, but touch the yellow. The blue will be in the corner, and as Link, defeat the two Deku Babas.
In the next area, as Kafei, push or pull the blocks onto the yellow block, and avoid the red one entirely. Push the blue block above the blue onto it, and as Link, defeat the Wolfos.
Finally, as both Kafei and Link, hit the switches.
At this point, you have two options, with two different rewards (requiring you to do this long chain of quests at least twice.)
For the first outcome, to to the Milk Bar after 6:00 PM and speak with Madam Aroma while still wearing Kafei's Mask. Give her the letter and in return she will give you an empty bottle.
For the second outcome, bring the letter to the Postman in West Clock Town, and he will deliver it to Madam Aroma in the Milk Bar. Follow him in and watch as he stays for a moment before running away from town. At this point you can speak with him to get the Postman's Hat.
After doing either of those outcomes, you can finally return to the Stock Pot Inn during the last 6 hours of the Final Night. If you gave Anju the Pendant of Memories, she will be waiting in her room. With just an hour left before the world ends, Kafei will appear and they will combine their masks, giving you the Couples Mask, before waiting to face the dawn together. (You should probably play the Song of Time at this point!)
